We participated on 20 October 2022 in the European Anti-SLAPP conference. The conference was organised by the European Centre for Press and Media Freedom (ECPMF) and the Coalition Against SLAPPs in Europe (CASE), under the patronage of the European Parliament and with the support of the Council of Europe.
Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation (SLAPPs) are legal threats and abusive lawsuits to limit freedom of expression by intimidating and discouraging journalists, NGOs, activists and other persons or organisations from gathering and publishing information on matters of public interest. The conference brought together CASE coalition members, SLAPP victims, experts, journalists, media professionals, lawyers, policymakers, free speech advocates, academics, ombudspersons, judges, and civil society representatives. After the conference, CASE presented the nominees and the winners of the second European SLAPP Contest.
