In its Spring 2018 issue Netherlands Quarterly of Human Rights published: Whisteblowing for sustainable democracy, by Inger Hoedt-Rasmussen and Dirk Voorhoof. The need for protection of whistleblowing is argued from the perspective of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDG 16) on transparancy and human rights and on the case law of the European Court of Human Rights securing protection for whistleblowers under the right to freedom of expression.
