Second European anti-SLAPP Conference

On 14 November 2024 we participated in the European anti-SLAPP conference in Strasbourg, organised for the second time by CASE (the Coalition Against SLAPPs in Europe), ECPMF (European Centre for Press and Media Freedom) and the Council of Europe.

The aim of the conference was to promote and introduce the newly adopted European legal instruments against SLAPPs. The event also featured the work of CASE and other civil society organisations across Europe on combating SLAPPs, including national anti-SLAPP Working Groups. The event brought together high-level representatives of the Council of Europe, the European Union, CASE coalition members, SLAPP victims, experts, journalists, media professionals, lawyers, policymakers, free speech advocates, academics, ombudspersons, judges, and civil society representatives.

The main focus was how to implement in the most robust and effective way the recent legal instruments of the EU and the Council of Europe in the national legislation and policy: “from paper to action”.
