We participated in the preparation of an online tool developed by Index on Censorship in order to identify strategic/abusive lawsuits against public participation (SLAPPs).
Journalists, activists, academics, civil society organizations, local campaigners, whistleblowers and survivors of sexual violence are among those most targetted with SLAPPs. The interactive tool of Index on Censorship is intended to be a useful platform to identify potential SLAPP tactics. If your answers to the online questionnaire coincide with the most common symptoms of a SLAPP or threats with SLAPPs, you will likely be told that you are facing a SLAPP. The tool is not intended to replace legal advice. It should be used for information purposes only and eventually to find support within the anti-SLAPP network, such as CASE (Coalition Against SLAPPs in Europe), ECPMF (European Centre for Press and Media Freedom), national SLAPP focal points or national anti-SLAPP working groups or coalitions, or pro bono lawyers networks, in or outside Europe.
